Job Description

The Sr. Design Engineer will participate in the Medical Device design and development process, performing specific duties and preparing engineering analysis or projects.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Preliminary design, calculation, life cycle cost and equipment selection
  • Prepare and interpret blueprints
  • Schematic drawings, layouts and other visual aids
  • Prepare technical specifications
  • Perform engineering duties surrounding the following:
    • mechanical devices, components and medical devices
    • manage project issues, budgets, and schedules
    • review and critique proposed changes to engineering standards, policies, or details
    • review development plans for compliance with adopted engineering standards and good engineering practices
    • coordinate the activities of the design teams.
    • uphold the professional image of the company
    • and other duties as assigned.

 

Educational Requirements

BSME or four-year technical degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

 

Required Experience / Skills

  • 5-year minimum medical device experience
  • Work requires advanced math skills.
  • Special relationship abilities
  • Ability to understand "abstract" principles behind math and physics.
  • Working knowledge of solid modeling preferably SolidWorks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong technical writing skills.

 

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and processes
  • Technical files and CE marking requirements.
  • Experience with Solid Works product data management (PDM) system
  • FMEA analysis preferably CASMOS
  • Some regulatory experience
  • 510(K) submission experience
  • Intermediate to advanced MS office skills
